Sensorium began with two creative artists, a dream and a determination to use their skills to change lives. They wanted to make highly specialized, hands-on, interactive theatre for young people with complex disabilities. Falling between both health and arts funding opportunities, Sensorium turned to the philanthropic sector, which has become a source of continued support and important leverage for government funding.

We spoke with Co-Artistic Director and Development Manager Michelle Hovane and Spinifex Trust’s Paul Chamberlain about the advantages of private sector funding, the importance of building relationships and why partnerships between the arts and donors, philanthropists and business are so important.
