Indigenous Art Centre Fundraising Mentorships
Indigenous art centres are central to the wellbeing of many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, providing essential cultural, creative and economic connections, particularly in remote communities.
Art centres are in a unique position when it comes to fundraising. There are many opportunities to develop donor networks and secure private sector support. However, having the resources to develop the skills and relationships that underpin this work can be challenging.
Creative Partnerships Australia is offering up to four fundraising mentorships for staff of Indigenous art centres. This program is part of our commitment to support the Indigenous visual arts sector to increase philanthropic engagement and partnership opportunities.
Program aims include:
- Working together to set organisational fundraising goals to secure private sector support
- Embedding fundraising skills and methodology in the participating art centre
- Developing a new, or reviewing a pre-existing, fundraising plan
- Increasing private sector support as a revenue stream for the centre
Art centres in any state or territory of Australia are invited to apply. Through the Expression of Interest process, art centres will nominate their staff member to be mentored. This could be the art centre manager or a staff member who plays a key operational role.
This program is for art centres at all stages in their fundraising journey – you may currently do no fundraising, or you may have an established fundraising program. All art centres are encouraged to apply if they want to reach the next level from where they are now.
Through the mentorship, the nominated representative will be matched with an experienced arts fundraiser. The fundraiser will mentor the staff member over a 12-month period, developing fundraising skills and building capacity within the art centre to access private sector support.
