Lucy Guerin Inc recieves $2 million bequest from late Chair

Incredible news in private giving to the arts in November, as Lucy Guerin Inc. recently announced their former Chair, Chloe Munro AO, made a bequest of $2 million to the company before her passing in 2021.

The $2 million bequest gifted to Lucy Guerin Inc. (LGI) by the company’s late Chair, Chloe Munro AO is the largest bequest on record to go towards Australian contemporary dance – with $1.5 million directly going to emerging and mid-career artists, distributed through our Australian Cultural Fund platform.

LGI will receive $500,000 for the development and presentation of new works and general operations.

Ten mid-career artists will receive a $100,000 fellowship each, and ten independent artists will receive a $50,000 fellowship for their professional and personal development.

LGI Artistic Director Lucy Guerin AO said: “Chloe Munro led the organisation with a down to earth and positive wisdom. Chloe believed in art as a meaningful and motivating aspect of society and she drew strength and inspiration from her engagement with artists and from seeing performances. She was a wonderful mentor and left a vivid imprint on our organisation. We intend to celebrate Chloe’s extraordinary generosity and her legacy, and will name our main studio at WXYZ Studios in North Melbourne in her honour.”

Congratulations to LGI and all recipients. Please read on Lucy Guerin’s announcement for more details of this transformative gift.
